One year of blogging

This week marked one year of this blog's existence. So naturally, this was the first week that I outright forgot to write my blog.

This past week, I was at the beach soaking up the sun and enjoying time with family (and Autumn). It wasn't until I had an hour left in my 6.5+ hour drive home yesterday that I realized I'd forgotten to post. I started laughing.

This blog has — for the most part — been a comfort and a constant in my life. When I started it, I was a recent graduate, living in my college town, working at a coffee shop I'd been at for years and applying for something full time. At this time, I was expecting to move directly from Harrisonburg to Charlottesville or Richmond. I never would have predicted anything that happened in the months that followed. This blog followed me as I moved to my parents' lake house, got a job in my dream-field, moved to Charlotte and eventually got my own place.

One year later, I'm sitting with Ben in our living room. I'm writing this blog as he fills out an application for the place we hope to call our next home. So much has changed in the last year. It's been fun to be able to track it with my blog — a continuous medium to share my thoughts as I work through new experiences.

It's hard to say where this blog will go in its second year. It could become more organized, more focused. It could also change from a weekly format to every other week, or even every time inspiration strikes.

The only thing that matters to me is that my intentions stay the same. So long as I'm writing this blog for me — so long as I take joy in sharing my words with others, the rest will fall into place.
