Thursday, Ben and I moved in to our new place together. He's been down in Charlotte for a couple of months now, but this is the first time we've been in a place that's just ours. In a few weeks (hopefully) we'll be joined by our sweet little puppy friend Tucker, but for now we're focusing on unpacking and getting situated.
We're so focused on all of that that I totally forgot to post my blog on Thursday ... and Friday ... and now it's technically Sunday. But that just comes with the territory of moving.
After we started moving things in Thursday, we quickly learned that we didn't have all the essentials we thought we did — so Friday, Ben and I ran amok in Ikea (his first time in the colossal store). Once we actually had plates and silverware, it seemed like everything started falling into place just a little bit more.
In just two days time, we've already managed to unpack quite a bit of stuff, get the layout of furniture basically how we want it, and start plotting out the different plant holders we're going to get to fill up our humble balcony. It's been a whirlwind of a time since we first stepped foot in our new place, and that comes with it's own stressors, but I've loved it. It's always exciting to break in a new home — to pick where art will hang, which shelf dishes will go into, how you want furniture to be arranged. We've still got a long ways to go (and at least one of us works every day for the foreseeable future) but I'm pretty excited for what's to come.
Now if you'll excuse me, I have several bags to unpack.
